Use sticky notes
Take down a sticky note and write, ‘Today I am living alcohol-free’ and stick it to your wallet. Remind yourself the whole day that this would be your reinforcement when your peers would want you to meet them at the bar.
Politely decline any drinks other than water
It is completely okay to choose not to drink. Stand firm on your decision even if your friends are having an issue with your choice. Remember! Your choice to stay alcohol-free may stimulate the insecurity of others, so don’t fall into the trap of words.
Don’t let anyone force you to stay
Walk out of that place when you get over with it. Don’t let anyone bully you to stay. Leave when you feel like and never feel bad about it.
Order water with fresh lime when out
Most people would think it’s vodka. You might be told that you are boring, but you are not. You are extremely dangerous because you’re doing what many people won’t ever comprehend. You are looking into the face of the society and saying, NO—that is empowering. Own it and live that weekend alcohol-free.
Have Early Morning Commitments
It’s always good to have early morning commitment for the next day, be it gym class, a walk, church, or an appointment with your physiotherapist. Stay busy and be accountable for your choices.
Final Thoughts
When you’ll go to bed, you might feel missed out for that party, but the reality is—they are the ones who are actually missing out. You’ll wake up to see a whole new day feeling great. Rebellion is all about breaking societal stereotypes and doing things differently. Bringing a great change in your life begins with little steps you take every day. So start with an alcohol-free weekend.
